On Sunday, July 2, 2023, a mass shooting occurred at a block party in Baltimore, Maryland. Two people were killed and 28 others were injured. The shooting took place in the Brooklyn Homes neighborhood in the southern district of the city.

The shooting unfolded around 12:30 a.m. when numerous 911 callers reported shots being fired. Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said police officers rushed to the scene and located multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victims ranged in age from 18 to 48 years old. Three of the injured people were in critical condition, officials said.

No suspects have been arrested in the violence, which Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott described as “a reckless, cowardly act.”

The shooting is the latest in a string of gun violence in Baltimore. In 2022, the city recorded 352 homicides, the highest number in 15 years.

Acting Baltimore Police Commissioner Richard Worley said police officers rushed to the scene and located multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds.

Baltimore Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward.

They are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.

The shooting has rattled the city at the start of the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Mayor Scott and the police department said they will not rest until the people responsible are held accountable.
